Korean War title Operation Chromite, directed by John H. LEE and featuring an extended appearance by Hollywood star Liam Neeson as General MacArthur, originally went on sale during the European Film Market in Berlin this February and has continued to prove popular for the outfit. Most recently, it secured new sales for France (First International Productions), India (Soundspace International), Latin America (Sun Distribution Group), Scandinavia (Starmedia) and Spain (La Aventura).
Queen of Walking, a new coming-of-age drama featuring young star SHIM Eun-kyoung (Miss Granny, 2014), which just last week opened in Korean theaters, went to both Viva Communications (Philippines) and AV-Jet (Taiwan), while Emphasis took the film’s worldwide inflight services rights. FINECUT expects to close more deals at upcoming markets including TIFFCOM in Tokyo.
FINECUT’s new horror pickup Hide-and-Never Seek, which opens in Korean theaters on October 27th and features RYU Deok-hwan of Like A Virgin (2006) and JO Bok-rae (C’est Si Bon, 2015), went to Taiwan (AV-JET), Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei (Hwa Yea Multimedia), the Philippines (Viva Communications) and Vietnam (Lottecinema Vietnam).
Among other sales, the company sold KIM Ki-duk’s THE NET to Italy (Tucker Film) and Taiwan (AV-JET) and JUHN Jai-hong’s One Step to Hong Kong and Macau (Intercontinental), the Philippines (Viva Communications) and Taiwan (AV-JET).
