John LEE studied filmmaking at New York University. His feature film, < A Moment to Remember>(2004), which starred [JUNG Woo-sung] and [SON Ye-jin], was the top grossing Korean film to be released in Japan. Starting with his feature debut, <The Cut Runs Deep>(1999), to the latest, <71-Into The Fire>(2010), Lee makes films of different genres each time, but his directing talent, chic and sensuous, runs through all his works. LEE saw another box office success in Japan with a Korea-Japan joint production, <Sayonara Itsuka>(2009), which the very popular Japanese actress [Miho Nakayama] chose to appear after seven years of lull in filmmaking. A war flick, <71-Into The Fire>(2010), starring [KWON Sang-woo] and [CHA Seung-won], was released in Japan in early 2011. <71-Into The Fire> has also been sold to other countries, including Germany and England. LEE next focused his attention on a remake of John WOO’s <The Killer> (1986) with JUNG Woo-sung but ultimately moved on to <Operation Chromite>, another Korean War film. The big-budget extravaganza featured Hollywood star Liam Neeson as General Douglas MacArthur alongside local star LEE Jung-jae.
