Seoul Independent Film Festival 2015 Announced Its Lineup of 102 Movies

SIFF Will Screen Nine Features and Three Shorts for the First Time in Korea
 
 
The 41st Seoul Independent Film Festival (SIFF) for nine days from November 26th announced its lineup except International Invitation program.
 
SIFF 2015 announced 21 films in New Choice section and 33 films in Special Invitation section including 46 films in Competition section, with its pleasant slogan, "True Color of Independence." Among them, Competition section shorts consist of 25 dramas, 6 animated films, 3 experiment pieces and 3 documentaries, while Competition section features have 7 dramas and 4 documentaries.
 
Preliminary judges for the SIFF‘s shorts in Competition section said in a commentary, “This year’s entries mostly have high quality with new styles of shooting or composition.”
 
Jury members are director PARK Bae-il of Miryang Arirang - Legend of Miryang 2 (2015), The Association of Korean Independent Film & Video executive director LEE Ji-yeon, critic JEON Jong-hyuk, Movement president JIN Myeong-hyun, critic HEO Nam-woong and director HONG Jae-hee of My Father’s E-mails (2014). One of the short film juries said that “The subject on which most entries regardless of their genres are focusing is a picture of our society and contemporary weight.”
 
The keywords of features in Competition section are creativity and diversity. Preliminary judges expressed their expectations, “Public friendly dramas, traditional indie films with social issues and feature films with almost shocking provocation came on the festival.” Feature jury members include Korean Film Archive programmer MO Eun-young, critic JEONG Han-seok and SIFF director CHO Young-kag.
 
SIFF 2015 will show 9 short films and 3 features in Competition section for the first time in nation. The fest will premiere films like the 38th SIFF’s top award won The Girl Lives in Haeundae (2012) director LEE Jeong-hong’s newest film View Outside the Window (W/T) and Kissing Cousin (2014) by Neverdie Butterfly (2013) director JANG Hyun-sang.
 
SIFF 2015 will screen many notable films received attentions from other festivals this year. A Crevice Of Violence by LIM Cheol receiving the Best Director Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival, JO Se-young’s Fair Trade receiving the Special Jury Award at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival’s Asian Short Film & Video Competition, LEE Seung-won’s Communication & Lies which won the Actress of the Year (Sun JANG) and NETPAC Award at the Busan International Film Festival, ALONE by PARK Hong-min awarding the Actor of the Year (LEE Ju-won) at the same fest, HUH Su-young’s animated film Buy One, Get One Free which was invited by the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival and more.
 
SIFF 2015 will show the diverse present of local indie films through total 21 films – 6 features and 15 shorts in New Choice section and 12 features and 21 shorts in Special Invitation section. SIFF 2015 will run in theaters including CGV ARTHOUSE Apgujeong and independent film house INDIE SPACE for nine days, until December 4th, 2015.
