Following its Golden Leopard win at this year’s Locarno International Film Festival,
HONG Sang-soo’s latest film
Right Now, Wrong Then is preparing for release across the globe after
FINECUT confirmed various sales deals to foreign territories. The arthouse film has already crossed the 50,000 admissions mark in Korea after less than two weeks on release, a strong showing for an independent film.
FINECUT secured sales for the film with Stadtkino- Filmverleih for Austria, Zeta Filmes in Brazil, France’s Les Acacias, Portuguese outfit Leopardo Filmes, La Aventura Audiovisual in Spain and Sweden’s Folkets Bio. KIM Yun-jeong, FINECUT’s director of international business, confirmed that the deals were struck between Locarno and
Busan International Film Festival.
Right Now, Wrong Then, which also netted its star
JUNG Jae-young the Best Actor prize in Locarno is currently screening at the Busan International Film Festival, in the Korean Cinema Today—Panorama section, and has recently shown at the Toronto, Vancouver and New York International Film Festivals, with the Rio de Janeiro and Hamburg Film Festivals also coming up.
Meanwhile, FINECUT also revealed that it had added new title
Fatal Intuition to its lineup. The film stars
Fashion King’s
JOO Won as a man who goes after his sister’s killer with the help of a foreseer, played by
Late Spring’s
LEE Yoo-young. The film will be released by
CGV ARTHOUSE in Korea on October 28th.
