KIM Ju-hyeok has two conflicting personas – a dandy gentleman and a timid, comical character. He played a serious character in <Say Yes> who fought back a psycho killer and made a shot at a romantic comedy with <Singles>. In the latter, he portrays a gentleman who tried to win over his lover [CHANG Jin-young]’s character, he was an average man in <Mr. Handy> who impressed a haughty woman, [UHM Jung-hwa]’s character, with his versatility, and a pathetic man in <When Romance Meets Destiny> who could not ask out [LEE Yo-won]’s character and ended up being a secrete admirer/friend. Departing from comical roles, he gave serious performances in <Blue Swallow> and <Love Me Not> but returned to a defective character, scoring box-office hits with <My Wife Got Married> and <The Servant>. His characters are unknowingly attractive such as a good husband who was taken aback by his wife’s ([SON Ye-jin]’s character) bizarre view of marriage and a servant who dares to seduce his boss’ girl ([JO Yeo-jung]). 2011 saw KIM featured in films with three different genres at once, including <In Love and War>, a comedy set during The Korean War; <Pitch High>, a story of a dissipated baseball player; and <Couples>, a romantic comedy featuring several stories unfolding at the same time. It was another four years before KIM found himself back in multiplexes, playing a villain in IM Sang-soo’s <Intimate Enemies> and then appearing as a cameo in the drama <The Beauty Inside>, both in the summer of 2015. The next year proved to be a big one for the actor, beginning with the omnibus romcom <Like for Likes> and also featuring LEE Kyoung-mi’s kidnap thriller <The Truth Beneath> and HONG Sang-soo’s title <Yourself and Ours>.
