She started making independent documentaries in 2000 and she directed <We Are Workers or Not?>(2003), <Nogada>(2006) and <Stayed Out Overnight>(2009). <We Are Workers or Not?> won the documentary award at the Fribourg International Film Festival in 2004. <Stayed Out Overnight> depicting the sit-in demonstration of female workers at a retailer was screened at the Busan International Film Festival and the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. Her next documentary <NoGaDa> (2005) was also screened in Busan. In 2009, her work <Stayed Out Overnight>, which also documented disenfranchised workers going on strike, was once again screened in Busan. <SANDA: Surviving>, about a group of middle-aged Korea Telecom workers scraping by, afforded her a fourth straight invite to Busan and picked up the Best Korean Documentary Award at the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival.
