Short Film to Debut on YouTube in October

Actress and musician So-yi has gone behind the camera to direct the short film My Eggs (literal title), based on her own script.

So-yi also stars in the film, described as a comedy-drama about an unmarried woman who freezes her eggs. Also appearing in the short will be AHN Min-young, YOO Yeon-seo, SHIM Woo-sung and KIM Young-taek.

The project is one of a series of short subjects being produced for the YouTube channel Basement Salon (Ban-ji-ha-sal-long). My Eggs is scheduled to debut on the streaming platform in October.

So-yi has been active in films since the mid-2000s when she appeared in the K-horrors The Wig (2005) and Cadaver (2007). She is known for her collaborations with arthouse director SHIN Yeon-shick, such as The Russian Novel (2013), The Avian Kind (2015) and Like a French Film (2016). She recently appeared in The Seeds of Violence, which picked up the Grand Prize in the Korean competition at the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2017.

It’s not the first for the veteran actress to step behind the camera. So-yi directed the short film Index Finger in 2011, in which she co-starred with RYU Deok-hwan. She also wrote the script for SUNG Chang-won’s short film The Rebound, which screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival last year and which she also starred in.

My Eggs is currently in the final stages of filming and will soon enter post-production ahead of its official launch in the fall.
