New Thriller Stars JEON Do-yeon, JUNG Woo-sung, YOUN Yuh-jung

The star-studded upcoming thriller Beasts that Cling to the Straw (translated title), featuring JEON Do-yeon, JUNG Woo-sung, YOUN Yuh-jung and BAE Sung-woo, completed production on November 30 in Jeonju following three months of filming. New director KIM Yong-hoon is at the helm of this adaptation of the Japanese novel of the same name by SONE Keisuke.

JEON, known in Korea by the moniker ‘Queen of Cannes’ for being the only Korean performer to earn an acting prize at the Cannes Film Festival, for LEE Chang-dong’s Secret Sunshine in 2007, hasn’t been seen on the big screen since early in 2016, when she starred with GONG Yoo in LEE Yoon-ki’s drama A Man and A Woman. However she also completed another yet-to-be-released film this year, Birthday (translated) with SUL Kyung-gu.

JUNG has starred in a pair of blockbusters over the past 12 months, including YANG Woo-suk’s Steel Rain (2017) and KIM Jee-woon’s ILLANG : THE WOLF BRIGADE. Meanwhile, BAE appeared alongside JUNG in The King (2017), and also co-starred with JEON in 2013’s Way Back Home. Legendary actress YOUN was seen in the family drama Keys to the Heart with LEE Byung-hun earlier this year.
