JIN Gyeong, born in 1972 in the South Gyengsang Province, studied Art History at the Korea National University of Arts and later became active on the theater stage in 1998. She spent ten years performing in plays, appearing in as many as four per year. After a few years after her stage debut, she also become active in the film and television realms. Her first feature film role was in HONG Sang-soo’s landmark indie title <Virgin Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors> (2000). She followed this with the drama <I Wish I Had a Wife> the next year. 2004 proved a busier year, with appearances in <Too Beautiful to Lie>, <A Smile> and <My Little Bride>. As she shaped her characteristics into those of a compelling and confident career woman, she began to take on more roles as authority figures. Later films credits included roles in the period film <Forbidden Quest> (2006), the sports drama <GLove>, the IM Kwon-taek drama <Hanji> and the legal thriller <Unbowed> (all in 2011). Playing a surveillance department head in the hit action-thriller <Cold Eyes> in 2013, JIN drew great acclaim for her scene-stealing turn and earned the Best Supporting Actress prize from the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards. Demonstrating her flair for landing roles in hits, in 2015 she appeared both in RYOO Seung-wan’s cop thriller <Veteran> and CHOI Dong-hoon’s period action-thriller <Assassination>.
