PARK Chan-wook Honored in Brussels Fantastic Fest

On the 4th of April, the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival will return for its 35th edition, screening 170 films, including 118 features, from 39 countries until it closes on the 16th. It’ll be a bumper year for Korean films, with 11 films featuring in the program. A number of Korean guests will also fly into Belgium to take part, including directors PARK Chan-wook, HONG Ji-young and LEE Soo-yeon.

Director PARK Chan-wook will receive the Order of the Knights of the Raven in Brussels as three of his films screening at the festival, 2005’s Sympathy For Lady Vengeance, I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK (2006) and Thirst (2009).

BIFFF’s signature International Competition will feature a trio of Korean films: MO Hong-jin’s revenge thriller Missing You, HONG Ji-young’s fantasy romance Will You Be There? and UM Tae-hwa’s fantasy drama VANISHING TIME: A BOY WHO RETURNED.

Meanwhile, LEE Soo-yeon’s bloody thriller Bluebeard, NA Hyun’s crime drama The Prison and KIM Seong-hun’s disaster drama Tunnel will take part in the Thriller Competition. Also in the BIFFF program are LEE Gae-byok’s comedy LUCK-KEY and LEE Ho-jae’s sci-fi drama SORI: Voice from the Heart.

On April 6th, the Korean Cultural Center in Brussels will organize a ‘Korean Film Night’ to celebrate the Korean films screening in Belgium this year.
