LEE Ho-jae received his Degree in Fine Art from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Short films he made during his time there screened at the Newport Beach International Film Festival and the Asiana International Short Film Festival. Prior to graduating to the feature directing chair, LEE wrote the screenplay for the 2006 horror film <Hidden Floor>, one of the titles in the 4 Horror Tales Film Series. Three years, he wrote his debut <The Scam>, a con artist thriller with PARK Yong-ha, PARK Hee-soon and KIM Min-jung. The film scored 1.5 million admission in early 2009 and screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival. For his confident first spin in the director’s chair, LEE received the Best New Director awards from both the PaekSang Arts Awards and the Daejong Film Awards. A year later, LEE made the short film <Vertical Limit> with GIM Mu-yeol. In 2013, LEE helped out with the screenplay for LEE Won-suk’s well-received debut, the colourful romantic comedy <How to Use Guys with Secret Tips>. LEE’s return to feature directing came in 2016, when he released the sci-fi melodrama <Sori: Voice from the Heart> during the Lunar New Year holiday. The title featured LEE Sung-min has a father who gets help from a satellite fallen from the sky to help him find his missing daughter.
