The Korean Film Council(KOFIC, Chairman KIM Eui-suk) will hold its second showcase of Korean filmmakers in the Chinese film market in Bejing, China on December 12th. This event introducing Korean film directors, cinematographers and screenplay writers who have displayed outstanding talents in their field of work has been arranged to promote talent export as well as co-productions between Korea and China.

 

Participants for this year’s showcase have been designated by Chinese production and investment companies or selected from a pool of well-recognized film directors, cinematographers and screenplay writers. Participants include five directors: HAN Jae-rim(The Face Reader, Rules of Dating); LEE Joon-ik(Hope, King and the Clown); CHANG Hun(The Front Line, Secret Reunion); CHONG Yun-su(My Wife got Married, Love Now) and LEE Yeon-woo(Running Turtle), two cinematographers: PARK Hyun-chul(Mr. Go, Take Off) and LEE Jong-youl(Montage, Parallel Life), and screenplay writer LEE Yeong-jong (The Flu, Confession of Murder).

 

During last year’s event, a total of 80 film production and investment-related professionals attended the event where 48 business meetings with ten local companies such as Chengtian Entertainment, the producers of Red Cliff and Dalian Wanda Group who owns the world’s largest theater chain took place. For this year’s event, around 30 major Chinese companies, the investors and producers of John WOO’s latest feature project will participate.
 
During the course of this event, showcase participants will tour China Film and KOFIC’s Chinese Film Business Center opened in April, 2012 and operates as the Korea-China co-production film development support center to have a close-up inspection of the center of local film production and also exchange information with Korean filmmakers residing at the Film Business Center on entering the Chinese film market. Currently, a participant of last year’s showcase and current center resident, filmmaker CHANG Yoon-hyun, is gearing up for production scheduled for early next year in China, while six other Korea-China co-production projects including AH Byung-ki’s latest film are pushing ahead for prospective production collaborations.
