With his Chungmooro debut film, <The Contact>(1997) CHANG Yoon-hyun created a new style of Korean melodrama. The movie, which was also the debut movie of JEON Do-youn, depicted a love story of a man and a woman who meet through online chatting, then a new method of communication. CHANG engaged in cinema movement during his college years, made independent exposé films, and participated in Changsankot Mae (independent movie collective) activities with his fellow director YI Un. < The Contact> turned him into an instant blue chip of Chungmooro. <Tell Me Something>(1999), a thriller he made with a cast of the hottest actor HAN Seok-kyu and actress SHIM Eun-ha of the time, was a box office flop, but the director sets up his own production company, C&Film, and made many movies such as <R-Point> and <Some>. He also showed deft directing on <Hwang Jin Yi>, which he made with a cast of SONG Hye-kyo and YOO Ji-tae in 2007.
