Park Hosan, born Park Jeonghwan in 1972, studied dramatics at Chung-Ang University before making his debut on stage in 1993 as a member of Theater Yeonwoo Company, a troupe specialized in experimental Korean creations inspired by Brecht’s epic theatre as well as Korea’s traditional folk theater. He could be seen on the big screen as early as 1997, in a minor role in Chung Jiyoung’s <Blackjack> (1997), and he followed that up with more uncredited performances in mainstream films, such as <The Soul Guardians> (1998), <The Mystery of the Cube> (1999) and <Indian Summer> (2001), as well as Hong Sangsoo’s <Woman Is The Future Of Man> (2004). After a decade-long hiatus, during which he was mostly active in theater with the company Man Theater, he made his comeback in 2014, and that’s when his screen career really took off, starting with a noted performance in the indie sports comedy <The King of Jokgu> (2013). The following years would see him land many roles in TV series, most notable among them the thriller series <Wanted> (2016) and <Innocent Defendant> (2017), while also appearing briefly in <The Princess and the Matchmaker> (2015), <The Queen of Crime> (2016) and <Heart Blackened> (2017). In 2017, he was given the lead role in <MR. EGOTISTIC> (2017), for which he was bestowed with the Best Actor Award at the Independent Film Festival Busan. He was later brought to wider notice through supporting roles in the hit series <Prison Playbook> (2017-2018) and <My Mister> (2018). Next for him was a pair of Netflix original films, the time travel thriller <CALL> (2020) and the crime action film <Night in Paradise>, the latter of which was first presented out of competition at the Venice Biennale.
