Born in 1994, PARK Hye-su first made her name as a contestant in the competitive singing show <K-pop Star> in 2014, where she was well received but eventually didn’t make the final top 10. At the time, she was part of her college band and had been encouraged by her friends to take part in the TV show. She reappeared the next year in the TV drama series <Yong-pal>, thus making her first step as an actor. She then moved to the big screen with <Will You Be There?> (2016), playing alongside KIM Yun-seok and BYUN Yo-han, before becoming part of the main cast of TV series <Hello, My Twenties!> (2016). Even though her acting in the latter was highly praised, she couldn’t reprise her role for the second season due to schedule conflict. Indeed, she had just been cast by none other than KANG Hyoung-chul, of <Sunny>(2011) fame, to star in his next film <Swing Kids> (2018). The news of her casting made the headlines, due to the director’s eye for discovering talented newcomers as he proved so far with PARK Bo-young (<Scandal Makers>, 2008) and KANG So-ra, CHUN Woo-hee and SHIM Eun-kyoung (<Sunny>, 2011). She was praised for her ability to play a very demanding role, as not only did she have to sing and perform tap dance (4 hours of daily practice for 5 months), she also had to deliver lines in English, Chinese and Japanese.
