Sung Yubin, born in 2000, began acting when he was 9, after someone suggested that he attend acting lessons. He debuted in the thriller <Blind> in 2011 and appeared later that year as a younger version of Yoo Ahin’s lead character in the surprise hit drama film <Punch>. He received a lot of praise for his performance in the special TV drama series <The Murder of Haneuljae Pass> (2013), set during the Korean War, and became particularly busy in the following years with a large number of roles, most of them as younger versions of main characters, like in <Secretly Greatly> (2013), <Hide and Seek> (2013) and <The Fatal Encounter> (2014). After playing the son to Choi Minshik’s hunter in historical blockbuster <The Tiger> (2015), one of his first important roles, he was brought to large notice when he appeared in a critical flashback in the latter half of <Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds> (2017). Sung received top billing for the first time in the indie drama <Last Child> (2017). The film was selected by festivals all over the world, including the Berlinale, and it notably won the FIPRESCI award in Busan, while Sung himself went back home with newcomer awards from the Busan Film Critics Association and the Buil Film Awards, as well as Best Actor from the Wildflower Film Awards Korea. He was then cast in Lee Jongun debut feature <Birthday> (2018), about a bereaved family after the 2014 Sewol Ferry disaster, and he also appeared in one of the major TV series of the year, <Mr. Sunshine> (2018). In 2019, he could be seen in <The Battle: Roar to Victory>, which retraced the events that led to the first military victory of the Korean independence fighters during the Japanese Occupation, and he starred in the indie romance <Moonlit Winter> (2019), the sophomore feature effort from <Merry Christmas Mr. Mo> director Lim Daehyung. The year 2022 opened a new chapter in his career, as he could be seen starring in the mainstream comedy drama <Perhaps Love> (2021) and the fantasy action film <The Witch: Part 2. The Other One> (2021), while also participating in the drama <I want to know your parents> (2022) and Koreeda Hirokazu’s Korea-set drama <Broker> (2022).
