KIM Dong-hoo got his start in his industry as a member of KIM Ki-duk’s film troupe, which has in the past included directors such as JANG Cheol-su, JANG Hoon, LEE Sang-woo and JUHN Jai-hong. He was an assistant director on the maverick filmmaker’s 2006 plastic surgery-themed work <Time>. He then went on to work on his own short films, <No Word with the Lips> (2008), <A Prelude to an Emotional Fight> (2009) and <Mafia Game> (2013), and later worked as a producer on <Red Family> (2013), which was written and also produced by director KIM Ki-duk. Much like previous KIM Ki-duk acolytes, KIM Dong-hoo got his first chance to wield the megaphone with a project both written and produced by the celebrated cineaste. <Made in China>, featuring young star PARK Ki-woong, debuted at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2014, before going on to screen at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Jeonju International Film Festival.
