A natural science graduate, Seo Eunyoung first did some research work for a semiconductor company and would usually spend her free time watching classic movies in arthouse cinemas. One day, while she was attending the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) during her vacation, an urgent matter at work forced her to cancel all her plans and jump on the first train heading back to Seoul. It was during that journey that she changed her priorities and resolved to quit her job and enter the film school of the Korea National University of Arts. Seo Eunyoung first directed several short films such as <Rainy Season> (2013) and <Start of Murder> (2014), and in 2015 her debut feature <Overman> (2015) was selected by BIFF, where it won the Daemyung Culture Wave Award. Her second feature, <Go Back> (2020) received the Korean Fantastic Distribution Fund for Feature Film at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2022, she directed the melodrama <Ditto> (2022), the remake of the 2000 film.
