HAN Sunhee is a producer and writer based in Seoul. She worked for the Korean film industry as a professional film journalist for more than 10 years, then contributed for the US trade magazine Variety as a Korean correspondent (2008-2012). She started her production career in 2011 with Director JEONG Jae-eun’s <Talking Architect> (2011). The film had its world premiere at Busan Int’l Film Festival, and became one of the biggest indie hits in Korea in 2012 after its theatrical release. Then she joined the renowned visual artist PARK Chan-kyong for his second feature film <MANSHIN: Ten Thousand Spirits> (2013). Starring talented actresses MOON So-ri, RYOO Hyoun-kyoung and KIM Sae-ron, the critically acclaimed docu drama was invited as the opening film of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival. After being screened as the closing film of the New York Asian Film Festival, the film also won the Best Feature Film Award at the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival in 2014. In the middle of its production, HAN also produced a TV documentary titled <Shaman of the Sea> (2012) for Discovery Channel Asia-Pacific Networks. She established her own production company PLAIN PICTURES in July 2013 and executive-produced <The Basement Satellite> (2013) by debut director KIM Hyoungju, which was invited to the Hot Docs Canadian Int’l Documentary Film Festival and the Moscow Int’l Film Festival among others. Currently she is developing a few projects in both documentary and narrative fiction for different media, aiming at both domestic and international market. She is also contributing for various entities in the Korean film industry as an active writer, editor, project manager and lecturer.
