Born in 1981, Park Songyeol graduated from Yongin University in Film in 2010. A unit production manager on <Eighteen> (2009), he served as first assistant director on the indie <Sleepless Night> (2012) before directing the short <Night And Dream>, which followed the daily life of a young man making a living as a professional designated driver. The title was screened at the competition section of Seoul Independent Film Festival in 2013 and was awarded with Best Screenplay at the Chungmuro Short Film Festival. After that, he made a name for himself as a sound technician, working as a boom operator on the indie acclaimed <Alive> (2014) and as a sound mixer on indie films <Our Love Story> (2016) and <Winter’s Night> (2018). He also served as a script supervisor on <A Midsummer’s Fantasia> (2014) and, more recently, on <Aloners> (2021). After his first feature <Can We Just Love> (2018), he won the KBS Independent Film Award at the Busan International Film Festival for <Hot in Day, Cold at Night> (2021), in which he also played the lead role.
