SON Seung-hyun entered the VFX industry as an initial member of Insight Visual and contributed to the development and enlargement of the industry working for breakthrough films such as <The Soul Guardians> (1998), <Doctor K> (1998), <Tell me Something> (1999) and <Fin de Siecle> (1999). Collaborating with the founder of Insight Visual KANG Jong-ik, he SON was one of the key creative personnel of the company and was involved in many projects as compositing director for BONG Joon-ho’s <Memories of Murder> (2003), KWAK Kyung-taek’s <Champion> (2002) and <Typhoon> (2005). SON points out that <Champion> was as one of the most challenging films for him, as the film had location shootings outside Korea, and there was not enough technology in crowd composition at that time. The later half of the 2000s, SON was also involved in many commercial films worked by Insight Visual as a VFX Supervisor. The company was merged into Digital IDEA along with EON and DTI in 2010, and SON has been managing the company until now despite some of the key members leaving for other companies. Currently, he is managing many projects under the title of Executive VFX Producer, taking care of all the logistics and management in the big scale VFX post production performed by more than 100 employees at Digital IDEA. More recent works by Digital IDEA include <Gangnam Blues> (2014), <The Fatal Encounter> (2014) and <Salute D'Amour> (2015). SON has also worked for overseas projects from Japan and China, while continuing his collaboration with Master IM Kwon-taek from <Chunhyang> (2000) to the latest <Revivre> (2014).
