Born in 1985, Lee Kwangsoo was predestined to be a model owing to his tall stature (191 cm). After his first experience modelling when he was still in high school, he joined a theater company when he was in his third year of high school, which motivated him to pursue an acting career as well. He first drew attention for his eccentric look in a popular 2008 commercial, for which he even received a couple of awards. This sudden and unexpected popularity led him to be invited to several TV shows and to be offered a role in the sitcom <Here He Comes>. In 2009 he caught many people’s attention in the sitcom sensation <Through the Roof High Kick!>. Noticed by famed TV entertainment producer Yoo Jaeseok, Lee was selected as one of the first members of his new show <Running Man>, which quicky proved to be one of the most popular programs on Korean TV. This show was instrumental in displaying his talent and his affable charisma, all the while showcasing his diversity as a performer. Active in TV, movies and even commercials, Lee appeared in supporting parts in hits such as <All About My Wife> (2012). In 2014, he was afforded a chance to play a leading role, not to mention a dramatic one in the drama thriller <Confession> (2014). Largely ignored before its release, the film became a surprise critical success, received an invitation to the Toronto International Film Festival and showcased Lee’s versatility as a performer. Lee next starred in the high concept romcom <Collective Invention> (2015), alongside Park Boyoung. 2016 marked the beginning of a new phase in his career. As he grew to become the most prominent cast member of <Running Man> after Yoo himself, he started to receive more role offers, with notably five TV series in 2016 alone. His newly gained status as a comedy star eventually pervaded his film career, as he starred as a new recruit specialized in cyber investigation in comedy <The Accidental Detective 2: In Action> (2018) and as a simple-minded step-brother to a handicapped genius in <Inseparable Bros> (2018). He then made a slightly more serious turn in the drama film <Tazza: One Eyed Jack> (2019). In 2021, Lee announced that he was leaving <Running Man> after more than 10 years and 500 episodes. Just a few months later, he was back on screens, but this time in the action film <Sinkhole> (2021).
