One cannot discuss LEE Na-young without mentioning the TV mini-series <Ruler of Your Own World>. The character of Chun Kyung in <Ruler of Your Own World> was LEE herself. She exploded on to stardom with her portrayal of the effeminate and other-worldly character. She stuck to her independent and off-beat image by playing a similar role in another TV mini-series <Ireland>: a rebellious female character who does not act out her rage against the world but bears unspeakable resentment or sorrow, someone who does not reveal her true feelings but possesses boiling passion deep in her heart. <Someone Special>, which retained the character image Chun Kyung, was a movie that best showcased the peculiar appeal of LEE Na-young. Then she became a marquee name in the box office through her realistic portrayal of the inner conflicts of a woman who falls in love with a death-row prison inmate in <Maundy Thursday>, a movie based on a novel by KONG Ji-young. LEE gained international recognition through <Dream>, a [KIM Ki-duk] film that also starred the Japanese actor [Jo Odagiri]. Most recently, she starred with the “Asia tar” Rain in another TV mini-series <Fugitive: Plan B>.
