After a first appearance in the hit blockbuster <Shiri> (1999), he took part in one of the most memorable scenes in Korean film history: the hammer fight in a hallway from PARK Chan-wook’s <Oldboy> (2003). He made his debut as a fight choreographer in 2010 with KIM Jee-woon’s bestial vengeance thriller <I Saw the Devil> (2010). In 2008, he won Best Visual Effects at the Korean Film Awards along with his teacher JUNG Doo-hong and the belated JI Joong-hyun for their performance in <The Good, The Bad, And The Weird> (2008). <Nameless Gangster : Rules of the Time> (2011) and <TRAIN TO BUSAN> (2016) are two other of his most recognized works. The fight sequences in noir thriller <New World> (2012), and especially the elevator scene where 6 people are scuffling with each other within the limited space, earned him wider recognition, further enhanced by his guest appearance in 2015 on popular variety TV show <Infinite Challenge> where he gave some insight on his behind-the-scene work for the film. Soon afterwards, he was named by JUNG to take over the direction of Seoul Action School. He later won the Technical Achievement Award (shared with JEON Jae-hyeon) from the Korean Film Producers’ Association for the numerous impressive brawls in crime action film <THE OUTLAWS> (2017). HEO is currently leading the efforts of the company to enter the film production business as he is writing and preparing his directing debut.
