Jason CHAE produced The Housemaid which was invited to the competition section of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. In 1998, he established Mirovision, the first Korean company specializing in the sales of Korean films overseas. Despite being a small firm, it has carried out a diverse range of domestic and overseas business, starting from investment all the way through to exhibition, in Korea as well as overseas markets. In its early years, the company focused on sales, while building a strong overseas network, and imported and distributed foreign movies with great artistic value. Jason CHAE turned his eyes to international joint productions early on and participated in the production of Cry Woman by Liu Bingjian, Loft by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, and the Korea-US jointlt-produced thriller <Sam’s Lake>. He launched MiroSpace, an art film theater, and invested in the in-house-produced action thriller <Les Formidables> and <Woman on the Beach> by HONG Sangsoo. He announced plans of a Korea-US joint remake of <The Phone>, the hit thriller by AN Byung-ki. Together with the US production house Imprint Entertainment, the remake project has recently gained KOFIC’s international co-production incentives, and is scheduled to start shooting in September 2013.
