JANG Jin’s works have a certain uniqueness that allows moviegoers to recognize his touch within ten minutes. Before his success in movies, he was already an accomplished playwright and director of many plays, and perhaps because of this, his films have always been described as “theatrical”. Whether that is true or not is besides the point. One thing for sure is that all his movies share his unique sense of humor. Contrary to the perception of him as a single-genre expert, he has also proved his versatility as a storyteller who can work with different kinds of stories through his scripts for films such as <Ditto> (2000) and <Public Enemy Returns: Public Enemy 3> (2008). He took part in the film adaptation of his hit play, <Welcome to Dongmakgol> (2005), which he wrote and produced, and directed <Murder, Take One> (2005), also based on one of his plays. <Good Morning President> (2009), which the director worked on with [JANG Dong-gun], was the biggest success of all his directorial works thanks in part to his use of a more down-to-earth humor. JANG has made almost one feature film per year, with consecutive theatrical releases of <Good Morning President>, <Quiz King> (2010) and <Romantic Heaven> (2011) during 2009~2011 period. Since the latter part of 2011, JANG has been the director of Korean edition of <Saturday Night Live>, presenting strong satire comedy to its audiences. JANG returned to the silver screen with a pair of films in 2014, when he made the transgender cop thriller <Man on High Heels>, with CHA Seung-won, and the interfaith family comedy <We Are Brothers>, with CHO Jin-woong and KIM Sung-kyun. In early 2015, JANG was also the subject of a retrospective at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
