Born in 1976, JANG Won-seok graduated from Chung-ang University in film and began his career as a production assistant for <The Adventure of Mrs. Park> (1996) in his early 20s. He proceeded step by step as a film producer going through a lot of mainstream films, including <The King and the Clown>, on which he worked as the head of the production team. He became the CEO of Dasepo Club in 2006, which was founded by his mentor veteran producer AHN Dong-kyu. He produced the TV series <Dasepo Girls>, based on the original webcomic of the same name that was also adapted into film the same year by E J-yong. He made a successful debut as an executive producer by developing with AHN the project that would become <Secret Reunion> (2009), with its 5.5 million admissions, and repeated the feat two years later with <War of the Arrows> (2011), which attracted 7.5 million viewers to become 2011’s highest grossing Korean film. JANG pumped out many films as an executive producer between 2011 and 2012 including <Project 577> (2011) about HA Jung-woo’s 577 km challenge walk across Korea, horror film <Don’t Click> (2012), and comedy horror <Ghost Sweepers> (2012). He was also attached as the co-producer of sports drama <Perfect Game> (2011) and thriller <Confession of Murder> (2012), as well as being involved in the planning of historical period drama <Nameless Gangster: Rules of Time> (2011). He later produced the drama <Way Back Home> (2013), starring JEON Do-yeon, which notably involved filming at a prison in Martinique, in the Caribbean, and also contributed to the production of critically-acclaimed thriller <A Hard Day> (2013). In 2013, he established a new film production company, BA Entertainment, with which he would notably co-executive produce survival drama film <Tunnel> (2016) and MA Dong-seok vehicle <THE OUTLAWS> (2017), which pulled in impressive figures at the box office. He has been elected as co-vice-president of the Producers Guild of Korea in 2016.
