LEE Jong-hyuk, born in 1974, studied film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and started his career in 1993, as a stage actor whose credits include <The Threepenny Opera> and <Run for Your Wife>. He made a first screen appearance in Korea’s first blockbuster <Shiri> (1998) but remained largely unknown until his standout performance as the fearsome leader of delinquents in action drama <Spirit Of Jeet Keun Do - Once Upon A Time In High School> (2003) for which he is most remembered. Soon after, he was given his first leading role in the comedy <Shin Suk-ki Blues> (2004), before starring in crime action film <Mr. Socrates> (2005). After an appearance in the crime drama <A Dirty Carnival> (2006), he played in a string of comedies, <A Day For An Affair> (2007), <Miss Gold Digger> (2007) and <Crush And Blush> (2008). In 2012, just when his popularity was starting to fade, he found new success in the main role of an irrepressible married playboy in the rom-com TV series <A Gentleman’s Dignity>. With his participation the following year in the reality show <Dad! Where Are We Going?>, in which male celebrities were sent on camping trips with their children, many viewers used to his antagonist roles were surprised to discover his warm personality. Since then, he has become more prominent on the small screen, with main roles in <Dating Agency: Cyrano> (2013), a series adaptation of the film <Cyrano Agency> (2010), as well as in <Queen’s Flower> (2015) and <Yeonnam-dong 539> (2018), whereas his film career has recently been revolving around indie productions such as <My sister, the pig lady> (2013) and <Notebook from My Mother> (2017).
