Born in 1975, Cheongju University theater graduate LEE Jeong-ho was first a prop master on the 1998 feature <A Night on the Water>. He moved up to being an assistant director, a position he maintained on a number of commercial films during the first decade of the millennium. His credits include <Magoq> (2002), <Sword in the Moon> (2003), <The Ghost< (2004), <Vampire Cop, Ricky> (2006), <Skeletons in the Closet> (2007) and <A Man Who Was Superman> (2008). In 2010, he helped out on the script of the thriller <No Mercy>, while also preparing his own feature directing debut <Bestseller>. An intricately designed chiller of a writer (played by UHM Jeong-hwa) who retreats to the countryside to escape accusations of plagiarism, only to be embroiled in a dangerous local mystery, the film put LEE on the map as a talent to watch, particularly after being selected in competition for the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Four years later he returned with <Broken>, an adaptation of the Japanese novel ‘The Hovering Blade’ by HIGASHINO Keigo. In it, JUNG Jae-young starred as a grieving father who tracks down his daughter’s killers in the snowy mountains. The film performed well at the box office and was screened at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Udine Far East Film Festival.
