With her graceful look and image of an iron hand in a velvet glove, LEE Yo-won has received a continuous welcome from fans. Having become known for the role of a gas station clerk in the film <Attack the Gas Station>, in the film <Take Care of My Cat> she played the character Hye-ju, who did not adapt well to society, because of an inferiority complex about education. With the success of the film, which well reflected concerns of women in the present age, she won almost every new female actress award that year. After a hiatus due to marriage and childbirth, she made a comeback in <May 18>, a film based on the Gwangju Uprising, in which she played a female character who seemed weak yet had an inner strength. She retained that image in the TV series <Queen Seondeok>, in which she played Princess Deongman. With this, her excellent acting ability and commercial power became known not only nationwide but also worldwide. With the broadcasting in Vietnam of the TV series in which she has played, her popularity has soared throughout the region, including Japan, where <Queen Seondeok> has aired.
