She was first noticed for her bout as one of the main characters in the sensational hit TV series <Boys Over Flower> (2009). Still in 2009, she made the headlines when, following her participation to reality show <We Got Married> news broke out that her make-believe couple with K-pop star Jun Jin had carried over to real life. Her first film role also came in 2009 as she participated in one of the segments of the anthology <Five Senses of Eros> (2009), soon followed by her role of the protagonist’s romantic interest in <The Righteous Thief> (2009). After she was cast as the female lead of the romcoms <Meet the In-Laws> (2011) and <Couples> (2011), she displayed her talent for comedy as the main protagonist of <How to Use Guys with Secret Tips> (2012). In 2013, she starred in <Killer Toon>, one of the most successful horror films in Korea. When she was cast in a TV series revolving around boxing, she prepared for the role by training with a boxing champion but the show ultimately never entered into production. She nonetheless kept practicing boxing as her hobby and even won a few national amateur titles, her first being the Annual Women’s Amateur Boxing Competition in 2010. Her passion for boxing was such that her agency tried to convince her to stop, as she was running the risk of harming her face, but to no avail. LEE even managed to make it to the national team after winning the women’s 48-kg title at the National Amateur Boxing Championships. In 2015, following repeated injuries sustained while preparing for the tryouts to join the national delegation to the Summer Olympics, she announced she was putting a term to her athlete career.
