LEE’s short <Papa>(2004) was invited to 2005 BIFF and received a Korean Film Archive Award at SIFF Seoul Independent Film Festival. The following short <Enemy’s Apple> (2007) consecutively got invited to BIFF and awarded the Best Film in the City of Sadness in Mise-en-scene's Short Film Festival. LEE made his feature debut in grand style when <Han Gong-ju> premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2013. Following a pair of awards in Busan, the powerful indie drama went on to earn the top awards at the Marrakesh, Rotterdam and Fribourg International Film Festivals, not to mention a trio of awards at the Deauville Asian Film Festival. The film received a large 200 screen release in Korea, a very wide release for a low-budget film.
