LEE Doo-man is a director who is at home with films of a commercial scale as well as with the experimentalism of independent movies. After May 18(2007), he proved that he could take charge of a 10-billion-won production. He is currently in charge of the shooting of director [KIM Ki-hun]s next movie, Sector 7(2011). Using computer graphics for backgrounds and monsters on green screens, he is the first to make Korean blockbusters in 3D. His sensitive response to now filming methods started with critically acclaimed short films and moved on to director [IM Sang-soo]s Chungmuro opening film Tears. He presented a new method of digital filming based on Korean concepts. He insisted on natural lightning in Jungle Juice, a movie set in the darkness of Cheongnyangni, and truthfully captured on film the struggles of old bachelors from the countryside out to find someone to marry in Uzbekistan in the movie My Wedding Campaign. He makes independent films when he has time off from commercial projects and works on new working methods suited to our digital age.
