Born Ma Yeongseon in 1984, Yoo Dain made her debut in 2005 with a minor role in the romance series <Hello My Teacher>, quickly followed by appearances in commercials and a bit part in the romcom film <The Beast and the Beauty>. Although she could be seen in the horror film <Cinderalla> (2006), her first claim to fame was when she was featured in a popular commercial for canned coffee in 2008. After that, 2011 marked a turning point for Yoo when she starred in the indie film <Re-Encounter>, from debuting director Min Yongkeun, receiving several Best New Actress nominations that year and eventually receiving the trophy from the Korean Film Critics Association. In 2012, she appeared in the high concept comedy <Over My Dead Body> as well as <Almost Che>, but it was on television that she the most active, starring in the 4-part series <Ordinary Love> and the family drama series <Tasty Life>. Although the former failed to attract a large audience, it generated positive word-of-mouth and Yoo eventually won one of the acting awards bestowed by its broadcaster KBS. She then stretched herself out into action for her role in the late 2013 spy thriller <The Suspect>. After she was part of the main cast of the comedy <DETOUR> (2016), she went through a slump, until she made a brilliant comeback in 2020 as the lead in the indie social drama film <I Don’t Fire Myself>. After marrying <Re-Encounter> director Min, she returned in 2022, starring alongside Cho Eunji in <The Cave>.
