Already in his early 30s, but WON Bin has not shed an image of a cute little brother for a long time. With his scared looking big eyes, his smile seemingly beyond any worldly concern, and his face that triggers protective instincts, WON has maintained the image in most of his movies, from <Guns and Talks> to <Tae-guk-gi> and <My Brother>. He showed a glimpse of manliness in <My Brother>, in which he played a role of a younger brother who acts tough in order to protect his older bookworm brother. But his weak image that absolutely demands motherly protection was played up even further in <Mother>, in which he played a role of the only son without sisters, a position in a family stereotyped as more mama boyish than youngest son. In the movie, he plays a man with a mild case of mental disorder who is jailed with a murder charged and receives dedicated defense and protection from his mother. WON’s acting ability and star quality saw their best combination in the top box office hit movie of 2010, <The Man from Nowhere>. He was highly praised for his acting of an average “uncle” character who risks his life fighting heroically against organized mobsters who kidnapped a young girl living next door. One can say that WON has finally grown to become a strong man who can protect others from his earlier movie characters in need of protection.
