Born in 1982, BAEK Seung-hwa studied animation at the Kaywon University of Art and Design. He directed several animation short films while gaining experience as a staff member on the set of many mainstream films. He also used to be the drummer of indie band Tobacco Juice during the 2000s and made several music videos. With his feature debut <Turn It Up To 11> (2010), he reunited all his different passions to exhibit the vibrant rock scene in Korea through this documentary on punk rock band Galaxy Express. The film, which was acknowledged with awards from the Seoul Independent Film Festival and the Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival, received a follow-up in 2012. Baek made the headline in 2016 with his first long feature fiction film <Queen of Walking> as it was the first production in Korea to implement a prevention education program for sexual harassment.
