PAIK Soo-jang, born in 1980, studied acting at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and made his film debut in 1999 with minor parts in <Black Hole>, starring AHN Sung-ki, and <Till We Meet>. He would however spend the following years focused on his stage career, until he was cast in the leading role of a bank robber in <Off Road> (2007). As he regularly works with student on their short films, he became a household name among indie filmmakers and was often cast by some of them for their first features. Among them is <The Room Nearby> (2008), in which he played against JUNG Yu-mi, <A Matter of Interpretation> (2014), the sophomore effort of LEE Kwang-kuk, and <The Queen of Crime> (2016) from the widely recognized collective KwangHwaMoon Cinema. He also appeared in anthologies <Now Playing> (2014), produced by the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and <If You Were Me> (2016), in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission in Korea. He has started appearing more often in mainstream movies, with minor roles in <Coin Locker Girl> (2014), <A Single Rider> (2016), <Anarchist from Colony> (2017) and <Rampant> (2018).
