Born in 1973, Lewis KIM first worked in the International sales division of film studio Cinema Service in early 2000s. Later, he was invited by Chungeorahm Film CEO CHOI Yong-bae to join his company and work on BONG Joon-ho’s <The Host> (2006). His work was particularly impactful as he was the go-between of the Korean production with the overseas staff and investors. After several years in charge of foreign distribution at Chungeorahm and a stint at Barunson Entertainment working on KIM Jee-woon’s <The Good, The Bad and The Weird> (2008), he established his own studio, Lewis Pictures, in 2010. Having earned BONG’s trust while working on <The Host>, the first release of Lewis Pictures was the BONG-produced <Haemoo> (2014). KIM worked again with BONG on <Okja> (2017) since the inception of the project, which he managed to successfully pitch to Netflix while seeking foreign investment. After securing the adaptation rights to <Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigarde>, which itself was an anime adaptation of OSHII Mamoru’s manga <Kerberos Panzer Cop>, he offered the project to KIM Jee-woon, which was released in 2018 as <ILLANG: THE WOLF BRIGADE>. More recently, he produced HONG Eui-jeong short <Habitat> (2018) and her following debut feature <Voice of Silence> (2020).
