Having graduated in dramatics from the Seoul Institute of the Arts in 1999, KIM Young-min, born in 1971, first draw attention with a few theatrical performances such as <Na Un-gyu> and <Lady Macbeth> between 1999 and 2000, even though he had already appeared in 1998 in <City of The Rising Sun>. After he was cast for KIM Ki-duk’s <Address Unknown> (2001), he found a bigger exposure by starring in the director’s most celebrated work, <Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter And Spring> (2003). He also had a successful collaboration with another festival favorite, director LEE Yoon-ki, who cast him as the male lead in <Ad Lib Night> (2006) and as a supporting character to JEON Do-yeon and HA Jung-woo in <My Dear Enemy> (2008). In 2006, he achieved the feat of winning both Best New Actor and Best Actor at the Grand Bell Awards for <Viva! Love>, a romantic comedy that challenged social norms with KIM falling in love with the mother of his ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, he never stopped performing on stage and even won in 2010 the Best Actor Prize at the Republic of Korea’s Theatre Awards for <Amy> and <Shoot My Heart>. He reunited with KIM Ki-duk for <One on One> (2014) and <THE NET> (2016).
