KIM Sang-joong, born in 1965, debuted as a musical actor in 1985, but later enlisted in the army to become a marine cop. However, following his graduation from the Dongguk University School of Theater at the age of 25, he decided to return on stage, this time in straight plays, starting with a production of <I Love Bread> in 1990. The following year, he made his film debut with <Money, Money, Money>. Later, he was chosen by public broadcaster MBC to join its roster of TV actors and thus made his first TV appearance in the series <Daewongun> (1990), before gaining wider notice with the series <Dear Sir> (1992). Known for his strong voice and confident characters, KIM has been a notable presence in Korean films and TV series since his debut. Though best known for his roles in hit TV drama series such as <City Hunter> (2011) and <The Chaser> (2012), without mentioning the popular TV show <I Would Like to Know> which he has been hosting since 2009, KIM has also operated in the independent sphere. In recent years, he has notably collaborated with auteur HONG Sangsoo on <The Day He Arrives> (2011) and <Our Sunhi> (2013). In 2014, he starred in the crime action series <Bad Guy> as a police officer assembling a ragtag team of convicted criminals tasked with tracking down other felons, a role he later reprised in the hit movie sequel <The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos> (2019).
