KWONYoo-jin is the master craftsman of Chungmuros distinguished family of costume. Being the son of teacher [LEEHea-yoon], the unrivaled leader in the field of costume in Korean cinema, he inherited the family business and has been working on movie costumes for thirty years. He has a staff of nearly twenty costume designers, a scale similar to that of a small business enterprise. He helped many of his assistants with their debut as costume designers. When looked at directly in person, some of the costumes might seem shabby, but when lit up and featured on the screen, they display a totally different look, turning into distinguished movie costumes. Detective K : Secret of Virtuous Widow(2011) and I Saw the Devil(2010) featured modern costumes in the historical drama version and altered classic costumes in the modern one. As seen in such historical dramas as Eunuch, Prince Yeonsan, Prince Yeonsans Life, and Surrogate Mother(1986), his movie costumes show a great diversity of line and color. He adds his own imagination to his mothers obstinate, perfectionistic costume philosophy. An example of this fusion style is costumes that fit well with stories of unknown nationality, unrestricted by time and space, as in 1792 The Accidental Gangster and the Mistaken Courtesan(2008) and The Good, the Bad, the Weird(2008). He is an art director who incessantly rethinks his spirit of master craftsmanship.
