Its first film, <The President’s Barber> (2004) was a commercial hit and was praised by the critics. Chungeorahm then made the right call when it decided to produce BONG Joon-ho’s ambitious project <The Host> (2006), as it would become the highest-grossing film of all time in Korea with 13 million tickets sold, unseated only in 2014 by <The Admiral: Roaring Currents>. In 2012, Chungeorahm had to resort to social funding in order to get its revenge film <26 Years> financed, as most distributors and investors would stay away from such a controversial topic, the film imagining an assassination plot against an infamous real figure of recent Korean history.
