WONDER WOMAN Lassoes Top Spot

A new Hollywood tentpole lorded over the charts at the Korean box office as admissions stayed almost level with last week, with about 2.35 million tickets sold. America maintained their market dominance with a 65% share of sales.

Wonder Woman, the latest entry in the Warner Bros. DC Comics franchise and the first major superhero title to both be led by an actress and directed by a woman, stormed into the top place of the local box office, as it garnered 830,000 viewers (USD 64.28 million) over the weekend and 1.16 million (USD 84.55 million) spectators since Wednesday.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales dipped 57% in its second weekend, as it amassed another 498,000 entries (USD 37.53 million) and has now accumulated 2.43 million (USD 179.00 million) sales since its debut.

Period battle drama WARRIORS OF THE DAWN, the latest Korean production by Fox International Productions had a soft debut at third with 374,000 admissions (USD 27.56 million) over the frame and 594,000 entires (USD 40.32 million) recorded over its first five days.

Local documentary sensation OUR PRESIDENT slowed 40% in its sophomore frame as it drew another 302,000 viewers (USD 22.34 million) and has now accrued 1.18 million spectators (USD 83.27 million) since it opened.

US genre film Get Out dropped 64% as it began to shed theaters as it scored another 144,000 sales (USD 10.83 million) and has pulled in an impressive 2.01 million admissions (USD 146.64 million) in total.

Tom Cruise action film The Mummy is drumming up strong business in pre-sales and should easily top the charts this week while local action film The Villainess, following its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, will also bow in local theaters ahead of the weekend.
