RioMarket, the industry arm of the 28th Festival do Rio, has designated October 2 (local time) — the second day of the festival — as "South Korea Day," programming a full slate of sessions devoted to the Korean audiovisual industry. Seminars, a Korea–Brazil producer networking event and a Korean film screening were bundled into a single day's schedule. RioMarket has also allocated the final two days of its free screening program, which runs throughout the event, to Korean films.

Festival do Rio runs from October 1 to 11 in Rio de Janeiro. This year's lineup includes films submitted by 16 countries as their entries for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. RioMarket runs alongside the festival from October 1 to 10.

A day built around seminars, networking and screenings

The "South Korea Day" seminar program opens with a session explaining the structure and financing mechanisms of the Korean audiovisual market, followed by sessions on how the industry operates and on case studies. Oh Eun-young (Ellie Oh), CEO of EO Contents Group, and representatives of the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) are among the speakers. The afternoon schedule features a networking event where Korean and Brazilian producers discuss co-production opportunities, along with a session on the links between K-pop and the audiovisual industry. International outlets reported that the strategic advantages of a co-production treaty with Brazil were also among the topics presented that day.

Oh Eun-young presented on production methods that integrate AI into live-action shooting, as well as on strategies for expanding micro-drama IP overseas. The day closes with a screening of The Ghost Game, directed by Son Dong-wan. The horror film was produced by EO Contents Group and was invited to the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) in 2025.¹ It follows a group of friends who hold a séance and find themselves caught up in an unforeseen turn of events.

RioMarket's screening program has set October 9 and 10 as its Korean film days. The selection includes Because I Hate Korea by Jang Kun-jae, No Other Choice by Park Chan-wook, Colony by Yeon Sang-ho, and You Are the Apple of My Eye by Cho Young-myoung. Summer's Camera and Halo were also added to the screening lineup.

EO Contents Group expands co-production partnership with Brazilian producer

EO Contents Group announced on September 29 that it would sign a strategic memorandum of understanding with Brazilian film and television production company Total Entertainment, timed to coincide with "South Korea Day." The two companies signed their first agreement in May and have since been discussing overseas remakes of films, dramas and OTT series, as well as joint investment and production plans. Founded in 1998, Total Entertainment has produced more than 20 films and series.

Oh Eun-young described Brazil as "a strategic partner market for jointly developing and producing IP." EO Contents Group has previously pursued international partnerships in Europe and Japan. RioMarket scheduled its business meeting program, open to overseas buyers including those from Korea, from October 5 to 9. Attention now turns to whether the partnership between EO Contents Group and Total Entertainment will translate into concrete co-productions.
