Director Park Chanwook & Actor Park Haeil, Attending the BFI London Film Festival

Decision to Leave, the Best Director winner at the 75th Festival de Cannes, has officially been invited to the 66th BFI London Film Festival and the 18th U.S. Fantastic Fest. The film has been invited to overseas film festivals consecutively after it was selected as the representative Korean film entry in the International Feature Film section at the 95th Academy Awards.

Director Park Chanwook and Actor Park Haeil of Decision to Leave will attend the 66th BFI London Film Festival and have a meaningful meeting with audiences around the world. The BFI London Film Festival, which has been held in London every year since 1957, is the largest film festival in the UK and will open on October 5 this year. Decision to Leave has been invited to the ‘Gala’ section, where the most anticipated works of the year are invited and will be screened as Headline Gala. About Decision to Leave, the festival programmer Tricia Tuttle said, “Director Park has crafted a mystery plotted with virtuoso aplomb – one breathless, twisting story-turn after another. Every shot is marked by its boldness and visual beauty.” She continued, “Decision to Leave finds Director Park working at the dizzying peak of his powers,” introducing the film.  

In addition, Decision to Leave is the official invitation to the 18th U.S. Fantastic Fest, which will open on September 22, and Director Park Chanwook has confirmed his attendance. The 18th U.S. Fantastic Fest heralded that Director Park would accept a lifetime achievement award, drawing attention, and his film Joint Security Area will be screened together. 

Decision to Leave depicts the story that begins with Detective Haejun (Park Haeil), who investigates the death case in the mountain and meets the deceased's wife, Seorae (Tang Wei), feeling suspicion and interest in her at the same time. In addition, Decision to Leave has been selected as the representative Korean film entry for the Best International Feature Film section at the 95th Academy Awards. IndieWire, a leading U.S. film media, selected the film as a leading contender in 5 major categories, including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best International Feature Film.
