The VR film, Poet's Room, which depicts the life of Poet Yun Dongju, has officially been invited to the Immersive section of the 79th Venice International Film Festival. The Venice International Film Festival established a ‘VR Official Competition’ section in 2017. Venice Immersive is an expansion of the existing VR section and is a competition to invite 30 immersive films that include VR (Virtual Reality) and XR (Extended Reality) technology.

Poet's Room conveys the dreams and worries of the main character ‘Dongju’ through a composition that crosses the boundary between dreams and reality. In addition, 9 poems of Poet Yun Dongju are unfolded with commentaries, adding originality to the way that leads to the overall development of the story. It is also characterized by the application of beautiful Yun Dongju's poetry with the elaborately designed interaction implementation technology. Inviting Poet's Room to Venice Immersive is expected to be a meaningful opportunity to inform overseas audiences of Korea's cultural heritage left by Yun Dongju, a poet representing Korea.

The VR film Poet's Room was produced by Director Bryan Ku, who made the art film PARASITE VR of Bong Joonho’s PARASITE, and Theater Director Yang Jungwoong, who staged the opening ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and Actor Lee Sangyun played poet Yun Dongju's voice. Actor Lee Sangyun said, "I am so grateful to play the voice of Poet Yun Dongju, who represents Korea. I hope the film Poet’s Room can be an opportunity to introduce Poet Yun Dongju and his spirit to the world.” The film will be officially released in Korea at the end of this year.

Including Poet’s Room, a total of 30 immersive films from around the world have been invited to the 79th Venice International Film Festival, and they will be officially screened on Immersive Island from August 31 to September 10 during the festival period.
