THE ETERNALS Actor to Appear in Shoot Upcoming Marvel Film this Summer

The Eternals (2021) 

Korean actor Don Lee (aka Ma Dongseok) may be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following his appearance in the Marvel Studios tentpole The Eternals last year, Lee is reportedly scheduled to return to the United States to take part in the filming of another Marvel film this summer.

In his Hollywood debut, Lee played Gilgamesh, a strong but softhearted member of the Eternals, a band of immortal celestial beings sent to earth in the Marvel series. Given Gilgamesh’s fate in the film, which was directed by Academy-Award winning Nomadland director Chloe Zhao, it is unclear what Lee’s role will be and what upcoming MCU project he is involved in. 

Reports suggest that Lee signed a multi-picture contract with Marvel, indicating that the studio does have other plans for him. In prior interviews, Lee had already indicated that he may be involved in future Marvel projects.

Prior to his Hollywood debut, Lee was already a major star in Korea, where he worked up from dozens of well-regarded supporting roles before breaking out in films such as Train to Busan (2016), The Outlaws (2017) and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days (2018). Among Lee’s many upcoming projects is The Roundup, a sequel to The Outlaws, which is currently in post-production.

Lee was the first Korean actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he will soon be joined there by Midnight Runners (2017) actor Park Seojoon, who recently completed shooting his role in the upcoming MCU film The Marvels.
