Han Jaerim Sets Drama Series Debut with Webtoon Adaptation DELUSION
Showbox Joins Forces with THE KING Director for Vampire Series
Director Han Jaerim, known for The King (2017) and his recent Cannes Film Festival-premiered Emergency Declaration, will make his first foray on the small screen with the upcoming series Delusion (translated title), adapted from the mystery-horror webtoon of the same name.
This vampire-themed 2019 Naver webtoon tells a story taking place in Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul during the Japanese Occupation Era) in 1935, as well as Shanghai in the 1800s.
Director Han debuted in 2005 with the romantic comedy The Rules of Dating before teaming up with Song Kangho on the gangster drama The Show Must Go On (2007). He is most well-known for the period drama The Face Reader (2013), also with Song, and the prosecutor saga The King. Han returned this year with the big-budget disaster film Emergency Declaration with Song Kangho, Lee Byunghun and Jeon Doyeon, which debuted out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The film has yet to settle on a commercial release date.
Producing the drama will be Showbox, the studio behind The Face Reader and Emergency Declaration, and Magnum 9, the production house responsible for Director Han’s recent films. No casting has been announced, and neither a timeline nor a platform has been settled on for the moment.
