Director Park Hoonjung Returns with Boxing-Themed Film

Small screen star Kim Seonho may make his big-screen debut in the upcoming film, Sad Tropics (translated title). According to his agency, Kim is positively reviewing an offer to appear as an aspiring boxer in the film, the latest project from New World (2013) director Park Hoonjung

Sad Tropics will focus on a man born to a Korean father and a Filipino mother who aspires to be a boxer. He travels to the Philippines in the hopes of tracking down his father, and in the process, he gets mixed up with some bad people.

Kim, who debuted on the stage, has been active on the small screen since 2017, appearing in shows such as Strongest Deliveryman and Two Cops. He had his major breakthrough last year in the hit series Start-Up alongside Bae Suzy and Nam Joohyuk. He is currently on screen in the romantic comedy Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha alongside Shin Minha, a small screen remake of the 2004 film Mr. Handy.

In addition to the gangster the New World, Director Park is known for The Tiger (2015) and The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018). His most recent film Night in Paradise, another gang saga, opened on Netflix earlier this year, following its international premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year.

Production is expected to begin in late November after Kim finishes filming on Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
