Art World Thriller Aiming for Hollywood Star Casting
Acclaimed filmmaker IM Sang-soo is preparing his Hollywood feature debut, an adaptation of the New York-set art world crime novel ‘Soho Sins’, written by Richard VINE. Korean outfit Yulmae Entertainment is producing along with the US-based 2W Network, which owns the rights to the novel.
The story explores the seedy underbelly of the NY arts scene, specifically through the murder of the wife in an influential ‘it’ couple in the scene. The husband is suspected and confesses to the crime, but details remain murky. An art dealer and friend to the couple then begins to look into the case. IM is working with author VINE to develop a script for the project.
2W Network is run by Donna SMITH, a veteran Hollywood figure who made history as the first woman to assume the role of head of production for a Hollywood studio, which she did at Universal Pictures.
Yulmae Entertainment revealed that they are aiming high as they cast the project, with a reported wish list that includes Brad PITT and High JACKMAN.
Pre-production on Soho Sins is expected to begin in July of this year, with filming being eyed for the end of the year in New York, provided shooting in the city will be safe at that time. The project is being budgeted at USD 30 million.
